Last week I attended a workshop on Machine Learning for Big Data at Telecom ParisTech.
Interesting talk by P. Simard, from Microsoft Research AI, explaining the difference between #MachineLearning
and #MachineTeaching. He explained how Machine Teaching is the capacity to extract knowledge from a Human person, when the learner is an algorithm. Machine Learning, instead, extracts knowledge from data directly. I wonder whether there is a name for the case in which the teacher is an algorithm and the learner is a human person.
Next year the meeting may well be in Paris Saclay, where TELECOM ParisTech is moving. How nice, closer to my working place.
